Álvaro López, Green Ambassador of Grupo Forma 5, explains his duties, what his position means and the importance of sustainability for our business group.
A few years ago, Grupo Forma 5 began its sustainability project. Products like the Muvit Stool, 100% sustainable, are a testament to the company’s current commitment to the environment. Behind this entire green transformation is the role of our Green Ambassador.
Álvaro López, from our R&D department, is the company’s Green Ambassador. A passionate advocate for furniture and design, López is “convinced that we live on a planet with limited resources” and firmly believes that “it is in our hands to reverse the situation and leave a better planet for the generations to come”.

Álvaro López, the person behind the Green Ambassador role
Álvaro López, from our R&D department, is responsible for leading and coordinating our sustainability project. López has always been involved in production, first in air conditioning and now in furniture at Form 5. For López, sustainability “is closely tied to being efficient, analysing and eliminating waste. Reducing resources is more sustainable and makes us more competitive”.
Since he joined Forma 5, the company has made significant strides in sustainability, such as the installation of a treatment plant to ensure the cleanliness of wastewater, setting up a solar energy plant and introducing reusable packaging to reduce single-use packaging waste.
Álvaro López’s vision for the future of Forma 5 is one “focused on more circular products, built with raw materials of lower environmental impact, more efficient processes, the use of clean energy and employees who are aware of sustainability”. The ongoing adaptation to dynamic environmental legislation and the implementation of this future vision are the exciting challenges faced by our Green Ambassador.
Our social projects
Group Forma 5 has three major social projects underway: Commitment to the Community, Sustainable Development and Equality.
Our commitment to the community is one of the key areas our Green Ambassador is most passionate about. His mission to engage the community in our achievements will be driven by “effectively communicating our efforts and initiatives”, as this is “our best form of publicity”. For López, “publicising efforts and achievements, even if they are humble, sends a valuable message”.
But without a doubt, the primary task of our Green Ambassador is the company’s sustainable development. “As a company, our main goal is long-term continuity”, said López. “Responsible production and consumption must be our priorities”. Our Green Ambassador, together with the management of Grupo Forma 5, “has promoted a management system that encourages the creation of sustainable projects at a strategic level, while also providing the company with numerous indicators perfectly compatible with the SDG impact assessment”.
In addition, the Green Ambassador ensures that our company “keeps up to date with regulatory developments, making a constant effort and investment”. For López, the way to achieve this is by “fostering collaborations with suppliers or technological centres that are aligned with our objectives“.
Finally, the Green Ambassador also has responsibilities in the area of equality, where Forma 5 “has driven initiatives related to work-life balance and promoting equality measures“.
Environmental responsibility
For López, a sustainable company is one that is “aligned with a market increasingly focused on sustainability” and also has “the satisfaction of fulfilling its responsibility”. At Forma 5, the sustainability project is “the responsibility of the entire company. It is not just about having a Green Ambassador” and it requires “involvement from the leadership down through the whole organisation”.
As part of this Corporate Social Responsibility, Forma 5 has implemented measures such as “replacing virgin raw materials with recycled ones, ongoing work to reduce products with almost forever chemicals, designing products with a focus on increasing recyclability and making them easy to separate by components”. All of these measures are directed and coordinated by our Green Ambassador and his multidisciplinary team.
